Senite is a first-generation Eritrean American singer, songwriter, and musician born and raised in Uptown, Chicago. She began her musical journey at just three years old through the People’s Music School, where her early training led her to perform alongside The Roots, Umphrey’s McGee, Third Coast Percussion, Dee Alexander, and Smashing Pumpkins. Over the years, she has grown into a powerful live performer, gracing stages such as All State Arena, Metro Chicago, Lincoln Hall, Thalia Hall, Evanston Space, Sleeping Village, and more.

Her dynamic presence has led her to share concert lineups with acclaimed artists including Mereba, Saba, Ravyn Lenae, Tobi Lou, Noga Erez, Jamila Woods, KAINA, TheMind, and more. With her genre-blending sound rooted in R&B, acoustic soul, and hip-hop influences, Senite creates performances that are intimate yet expansive, carrying both raw emotion and a deep sense of community.

Her breakout came with the viral success of Medicated on TikTok, propelling her into the spotlight as one of Chicago’s most exciting independent artists. Since then, she has released three EPs and collaborated with Rockie Fresh, Kaicrewsade, Ausar, Jay Wood, SONNY, GoldHaze, SuperstarrKAMI, Kayo, Matt Muse, and others. After a pause from solo releases to focus on community building, Senite now returns with her comeback single Getting Older, marking a new chapter of artistry, growth, and reflection.

Community over anything.

Beyond her artistry, Senite is deeply rooted in Chicago’s community and cultural ecosystem. She has worked with nonprofits and creative organizations such as the John Walt Foundation, People’s Music School, Young Chicago Authors, AFRORACK, LetUsBreathe Collective, and more, shaping programming that empowers youth and artists alike.

She co-founded The.BlkRoom, a co-creation hub and community space dedicated to uplifting BIPOC artists, before stepping away to focus on a longtime dream: The Bridge.

The Bridge is a benefit concert series she founded and curated with Jamila Woods and Shawnee Dez, designed to connect Chicago’s artists with their communities while raising funds for local organizations. In its early stages, The Bridge has already proven to be a success, drawing hundreds of attendees and raising nearly $10,000 for Semicolon Bookstore & Gallery, with sponsorship support from the Poetry Foundation, Field Foundation, and Block Club Chicago. Looking ahead, Senite plans to continue growing The Bridge as a platform that nurtures collaboration, celebrates artistry, and gives back to organizations that sustain Chicago’s cultural fabric.
